Newman’s Field

This property was donated to the Council by Joseph Newman in 1971 to be “used to provide a recreation centre first for the benefit of the residents of Henfield…secondly for other Westerleigh parishioners and thirdly for the benefit of youth and sports organisations in the district and that if any clash of interest should occur those administering the land should apply the foregoing order of priority.” A hand written addition to the deed adds “and including the occupants for the time being of the Beaufort Arms”.

Newman’s Field is located directly adjacent to Bitterwell Lake and can be accessed via Henfield Hall car park

March 2018 – a new copse of native trees has been added to Newman Field
